Hi, I’m Kat Delgado
New as the Property Manager at Capitol District Apartments, Kathy “Kat” Delgado was raised in California. “I moved around a lot, but once I got to Omaha, I was settled.” She has been working in Property Management since she was 19 years old.
Kat lives with a 6-year-old cat named Simba (“Simba has a very unique personality”) who is regularly terrorized by Benji, an otherwise friendly boxer mix. Maybe it’s from the rhythm of moving so often as a child, but Kat still reorganizes and rearranges her place every 6 months. Not because she's restless—she just loves to do it.
No doubt she’s found ways to make time fly while doing the work some of us dread. “I listen to music all the time. 80's funk, R&B, hip-hop, pop. . . I listen to music in languages I can't even understand.” So it's natural that she dances at home; and if she happens to be out at a club, “I don't mind busting a move or two.”
(Note to Party Planning Committee: Be sure to have some good move-busting tracks spinning at the next holiday party.)
But in contrast to her musical preferences, Kat’s taste in TV runs dark, mainly in the true crime and unsolved mysteries genre; her favorite fictional series right now is Shameless. In classic binge fashion, she goes for full immersion in whatever she's watching. “I love to discover new TV series. Anything with lots of seasons.” And if somehow a dance around the living room or a good bloody binge-watch isn't enough, she finds coloring is a great stress reliever. When it’s time to get out of the house, Kat shops for deals, and loves to hit the thrift stores for hidden treasures.
Even though Kat admits to missing the weather on the West Coast, she hopes to travel outside the country in the coming year. She's not interested in going anywhere too safe or familiar—when she travels, she wants a little bit of adventure. But where?
“Somewhere culturally different. Somewhere out of the norm.” It's a wild world out there, and we hope she gets to dance in a strange place soon.
