Hi, I’m Bryan Vandusen
One of the newest hires around here has such a strong affinity for water, he almost changed his job title to Pool Boy. After a burst of laughter, he amends that. "No, I’m actually the new Groundskeeper.”
Bryan Vandusen spent years circling Omaha before finally landing at Bluestone last month. He was born in Denver but raised in Red Oak, Iowa. After moving to St. Joseph, Missouri, he got a job at a Red Lobster and worked his way up from bartender to General Manager of their Council Bluffs location.
Like a lot of Bluestoners, Brian is an outdoorsy kind of guy. While he enjoys fishing, his real passion is photography. “I like to take pictures of the churches around Omaha and different places. I just find them really fascinating.” His favorites are St. John’s on Creighton's campus and St. Cecilia’s Cathedral. “And some of the architecture in downtown Omaha is really cool.”
He likes all kinds of music but recently started listening to classical music. “It’s nice and calming. . . but I still like rock and roll.” As for dancing, Bryan says he’s pretty good at it if nobody’s looking. “I sing pretty good, too, as long as the music’s turned up loud enough.”
Bryan would like to try river rafting in Colorado and is very interested in scuba diving. “I think I saw a place in Arizona when I was driving through there one time. They have some lakes that a person can actually scuba dive in. And if I couldn’t do that, if I had to spend too much money and time getting certified, I would settle for snorkeling.” It's probably a good bet that if you can get him to water, whether to a pool or a river or a lake, he'll find a way to enjoy it.
