Hi, I’m Cecilia Korth
Cecilia Korth was born and raised in Randolph, Nebraska, a small town about 140 miles northwest of Omaha. “At heart, I'm a country girl. I grew up on a farm with corn, soybeans, cows, the whole nine yards. I didn’t think I would ever be managing a stunning high rise apartment complex in downtown Omaha.”
After earning a bachelor's degree in criminology, criminal justice, and political science at UNO, she immediately went into law enforcement but came to realize it was not her path. “It was a little too dangerous and depressing for me. Over time I felt I had lost my bubbly personality.”
Later, Cecilia ran a cupcake and cookie business out of her home while continuing her education. “While in culinary school I started working as a leasing agent part-time and loved it!” After being offered a promotion, she left culinary school and her baking business behind to pursue her new love of property management. Now she enjoys baking as a hobby and insists her chocolate chip cookie recipe is the best. “The recipe took me 8 years to perfect. It’s the bomb. If you taste it, you will agree!”
If you are familiar with the YouTube channel, The Dodo, then you’ll probably agree this would be a great Dodo story. Cecilia has a little rescue Min Pin mix named Dobby. He was already going blind when she adopted him, and suffice it to say he eventually lost his vision completely. But, with lots of love, healing, and patience, Dobby is now doing fantastic! Now he spends his days being totally spoiled; eating -probably too much- human food and taking lots of naps snuggled up under blankets. She couldn’t love him more.
Cecilia began traveling at a very young age. “My mom is from South America ... I used to go spend time in Santiago, Chile, when I was a kid, and I guess traveling in general is a big thing for me.” Her current favorite place to go is Washington state, specifically Olympic National Park and a magical place called La Push Beach. “When I travel I like to stay in a really unique space, like treehouses or cabins in the woods. . .When we go to Georgia, for example, we're staying in a literal glass hut in the middle of a forest.”
It seems like most animal lovers also love plants in one form or another, and Cecilia is no exception. She's very passionate about her 60+ house plants, with her favorite plant right now being a philodendron selloum which is almost the size of her bed! “When my partner and I moved into a Bluestone property, I literally based the apartment search on windows, what direction they were facing, how many hours of light they would allow. . . We were looking at apartment layouts, and thought, Where’s the philo going to go?” We certainly hope she shares a picture of this plant thriving in its lovely Bluestone apartment.
