Hi, I’m Dan Nelson

Dan Nelson, Bluestone's new Senior Accountant, was born and raised in Omaha and went to UNL for college. This is how he came to be a “Big diehard Husker fan.” He admits that lately, it has been harder to be confident in his team, referring to a recent Saturday. “They got the brakes blown off. But I'm cursed to always be a Husker fan.”

Dan is married with two dogs, as well as a cat he’s had since college. The dogs are Saint Berdoodles; the 2-year-old weighs 65 pounds and was the runt of her litter, while the nine-month-old is already 80 pounds. Even without kids, they've got a full house.

In his spare time, Dan is a writer. He's currently working on a couple of fantasy novels. He also enjoys doing home improvement projects, which is good because if he ever runs out of things to do around the house, his wife usually has a new project in mind. Next up is a job that includes built-in cabinets, so there is still a lot of planning ahead. But it's not all work. Once a month Dan gets together with friends for a poker game.

As for couch-based activities, he and his wife do enjoy the occasional binge. He's currently making her watch all of the Harry Potter movies. “And we like sitcoms. We just finished watching Schitt's Creek again, and we really like Trailer Park Boys, which is kind of a throwaway one that cracks me up.”

Dan’s big goal for the coming year is to finish his first novel. “At least the first draft of it so I can get started on the edits and whatnot. I kind of sidelined it a little bit when I started my second one, so I want to get it finished off and polish it. . . I've only got 5,000 to 10,000 words left to go.” This sounds like a lot, but we're sure with his work ethic he will get it done. Looking forward to that book signing, Dan!

This is my desk.
