Hi, I’m Dianne Bak

Dianne Bak joined Bluestone in early December of 2019. Her background is in financial planning and analysis, making her well suited for the job of Controller.

Although Dianne grew up in Davenport, Iowa, she was familiar with Omaha from visiting cousins and a sister who lives here. After she and her future husband graduated from college, they decided to move to Omaha. “We thought it'd be a temporary stop on our way to Colorado. We moved here looking for more job opportunities and forgot about the second leg of the tour.” They started their professional careers and got married. Then came a son, followed quickly by a daughter. (The kids are young adults now.) “After living in Omaha 25+ years, it occurred to us one day that we completely forgot about the move to Colorado.”

Still, while we don’t have any mountains to speak of, it seems Dianne has found The Good Life® suits her well. She enjoys walking her dogs, a 13-year-old labradoodle and a 2-year-old Lhasa Apso, and in her free time is a legitimately chill individual. “I love sitting out by the pool reading a book, first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee. Probably my favorite thing to do is be outside reading books.” While she doesn’t have a favorite author, “I’ll read any book that comes with a good recommendation.  I prefer to learn something while being entertained.  So historical fiction is probably my favorite genre.”

Dianne admits that she and her husband also do the occasional Netflix binge of shows like Game of Thrones, Outlander, and The Handmaid’s Tale. But her ideal day would not be spent in front of the TV. Instead, she would prefer to be on a boat with her family, anchor dropped in a cove out on Lake of the Ozarks, reading and chatting.

Like a lot of Bluestoners, Dianne would love to travel more. Her mother planted the idea of a girls' trip to Germany, so that is something she hopes to do someday. She also harbors a secret fantasy: “If I had a lot of land, I would love to have a dog rescue.” Here’s hoping that wish comes true.

This is my desk.
